Forgoing the usual bar and
bat mitzvah
gift table, some teens are asking guests to contribute to
charity instead
. When Leor started preparing for his bar mitzvah, he had a clear vision in mind of how he would celebrate his coming of age ceremony by helping
other animals like his beloved Kylo (Wonder Paws Rescue Class of 2020) find a forever home. Growing up, it was a family tradition for him
and his siblings to ask guests not to bring presents to their birthday parties. In lieu of gifts, each of the children were invited to pick
a charity of choice to receive donations from their friends and family. So, it was only natural that Leor’s bar mitzvah would uphold this
time-honored tradition. Leor chose Wonder Paws Rescue as his
bar mitzvah
charity because he couldn’t imagine life without his four-legged, best friend Kylo. He created a donation page online and erected
table tents at his party with a QR code to capture additional dollars onsite. Leor is excited to share that he raised over $6,200 for
Wonder Paws Rescue which will go to help fund veterinary bills, subsidize rescue missions and buy food, medicine and beds.
